Trident's Bundrant Challenges Industry, "Come take (the award) from me!"
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WA — SeaShare, a leading nonprofit helping the seafood industry donate to hunger-relief efforts in the United States, announced recently that Trident Seafoods Corp. of Seattle, Wash., has received its “Hunger Relief Champion” award for donating 4 million servings of seafood in 2024 and a lifetime achievement of 34 million servings to food banks since 1994.
Silver Bay Seafoods, also of Seattle, received the organization’s “1 Million Seafood Servings” award for its donations efforts over the past decade. The company’s 2024 donations included more than 150,000 pounds of canned salmon delivered to food banks in Seattle and Oregon.
The awards were given during Seafood Expo North America earlier this week in Boston.
“The seafood industry is filled with hard working, good-hearted people. From the leadership-level to plant employees, Trident and Silver Bay have done a tremendous amount to help food-insecure Americans. SeaShare is honored to work alongside these companies in our fight against hunger,” said Hannah Lindoff, SeaShare Executive Director.
Trident Seafoods is one of the largest vertically integrated seafood companies in the country. Giving back to the communities it operates in aligns with Trident’s core values of caring for each other and doing the right thing, and the company recognizes the incredible health benefits that seafood provides to those facing food insecurity.
Upon receiving the "Champion" award, Trident CEO Joe Bundrant challenged the industry to donate to SeaShare and "...come take (the award) from me!"
Silver Bay Seafoods is an integrated processor of frozen salmon, herring, and squid products for domestic and export markets. Silver Bay has grown to operate six processing facilities in Alaska and the West Coast since its start in 2007.
Richard Riggs, Silver Bay Seafoods Co-Founder, celebrated the award at SENA with Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy, Julie Decker, President of Pacific Seafood Processors Association, and Hannah Lindoff, Executive Director of SeaShare.
SeaShare distributed 6.8 million seafood servings in 2024 to food banks in 21 states across the country.
