Volunteers are the backbone of every nonprofit, providing countless hours of support. In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’d like to spotlight the wonderful work done by the SeaShare board of directors! From attending regular meetings where they provide feedback and guidance, to promoting our cause to the industry, the SeaShare board has our back!!

Our board has played a pivotal role in the 28 years that SeaShare has been working with the seafood industry to ensure seafood can be distributed to Feeding America food banks. They’ve helped produce some impressive numbers: Over 250 million servings of seafood donated to those facing food insecurity, including 14 million servings since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The value of volunteer time, as noted by the Do Good Institute, is $29.95 per hour, a 4.9% increase from 2020 to 2021. The SeaShare board contributes over $4,000 of volunteer time to the organization annually!! So the next time you see one of our board members, give them a pat on the back for a job well done!!
