Pandemic Projects Bolster Food Bank Seafood Supply

SeaShare sent four truckloads (144,000 pounds!) of seafood from Channel Fish Processing in Boston to food banks in Louisiana, Michigan, and New York in the end of March. This is one of several large projects we’ve pursued to generate additional protein for food banks across the country during the pandemic.

The truckloads are full of oven-ready Alaska pollock portions in family-size (3-pound) packs that are easy to distribute at food banks. This donation will provide 576,000 servings of nutrient-rich seafood to families in need.

Thanks to Channel Fish for working with us on this project, and to all of the other generous donors that have helped SeaShare distribute 250 million servings over the past 27 years. If you have resources that could help get seafood to more food banks and feeding centers, contact us today! Email or call Jim Harmon (206) 842-3609.
