SeaShare

EAST versus WEST

by Mary Harmon

The National Fisheries Institute Future Leaders Class of 2015 has kicked off a friendly competition to raise funds and pounds of seafood to assist SeaShare in getting more seafood to food banks across the country. The East versus West competition is in motion and will continue until the annual class meeting in January. The mighty Mississippi River is the delineating line for East versus West. Preferred Freezer Services employees are currently leading the campaign with East donations of over $800 in just a couple of days.

NFI Future Leader, Kosta Anaziris, of Preferred Freezer Services, led the competition with the following kick-off note:

We, the class of 2015 NFI Future Leaders, are undertaking a community service project as part of our experience in this program. Many of us have made a career and a life using the resources of the seafood industry and have had access to some of the best and healthiest food on the planet. As you know, seafood is not the most affordable way to feed your family, and many of the unemployed or underemployed do not have access to this excellent source of protein. Our goal is to raise money and awareness for SeaShare – a leading organization that shares the goal to provide these proteins to those that are under-served. We are asking for your help with this objective.

SeaShare is keeping a tally of donations and will routinely post totals on the donation sites. If you have product donations please contact us here. Financial donations can be made at EAST or WEST.
