Instead of paying storage costs on excess inventory, samples, and other products that arent selling, donating the products to SeaShare will eliminate those costs qualify your company for the maximum allowable tax benefits. · Discard waste reduction Companies participating in the NMFS Prohibited Species Donation Program have an opportunity to retain their prohibited bycatch and donate to SeaShare for distribution to food banks. The ONLY alternative to this option is to throw the fish away. The program is entirely voluntary. SeaShare staff handles all the logistical support details, and manages product transfer, shipping, cold storage reprocessing and distribution under NMFS Guidelines. · Better use of low-value byproducts If your company harvests fish for the value of the roe or other specialty products, but have limited markets for the meat, SeaShare will take those fish and relieve you of storage and processing concerns as well as dumping costs and regional waste laws that prohibit discard of fish. · Cause-related marketing The Seafood Industry Hunger Relief Initiative managed by SeaShare, provides a public platform to show the rest of the country what our industry stands for; it carries the message about the viability of our resources; it spotlights the healthy, high-quality products we put into the market place; it lets the public know what the seafood industry stands for. · Peer to Peer Contacts This all-industry program has helped build important bridges between diverse seafood industry groups and companies; it has helped competing organizations find common ground in a great cause. · Combined Effort and Resources for Effective Results The services, products and supplies your company provides are combined for maximum efficiency and benefits with the donations of other companies.
