Emergency Relief from South to North

Two truckloads of canned salmon are on the way to Alabama and Missouri for disaster relief. This represents over 300,000 servings of high protein salmon in a form that is easy for the food banks to distribute to disaster victims. SeaShare worked with Trident Seafoods and Yard Arm Knot to secure this donation. An additional donation of over 40,000 lbs of Pollock fillets was also donated by Arctic Fjord, Inc. and sent by SeaShare to Missouri.

Alaska also received a truckload of canned salmon that was donated to SeaShare by Yard Arm Knot. Fairbanks Food Bank received the product and will be distributing the cans to remote villages along the Yukon River that are in desperate need of nutritious seafood. Freight was generously donated by Alaska Marine Lines and Lynden Freight.

Unsung heroes at Kent Warehouse and Labeling and Labeling Services Inc. have been working diligently over the last couple of months to sort, inspect and in some cases, relabel can after can of salmon for SeaShare. Over 319,000 lbs. of canned salmon have been distributed by SeaShare to Feeding America's food bank network nationwide.

Many thanks to all companies and individuals involved! The emergency relief project represents the cooperative efforts of many to achieve remarkable results.
